Manufacturers like Aston Martin and Jaguar, alongside specialized custom shops, are developing "cassette" EV powertrains. These units are designed to replace the original engine and gearbox of vintage models without requiring permanent structural modifications.
"It's about 'restomods' with a conscience," explains automotive journalist John Giles. "Owners want the aesthetic of a 1960s classic with the reliability and eco-friendliness of a modern EV. Crucially, many of these conversions are reversible, preserving the car's historical value."
